Important information about NDA exam

Name of the examination: National Defence Academy (NDA)

Age requirement: Minimum 16 .5 years, maximum -19 years as on first day of the month the course is due to start

Educational qualification: 12th pass for Army and 12th pass with Physics and Mathematics for Navy and Air Force. You can also decide to apply when you are appearing for your 12th examination. Which will save you a year?

Before we enter into the specifics of how to get ready for NDA, let us first recognize a bit regarding NDA and what a career in NDA signifies.

NDA

The NDA is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. Here, the cadets of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force get trained with each other before they start a pre-commissioning training in specific academies. The first tri-service academy of the globe, the NDA is situated in Pune, Maharashtra and is ranked one of the top academies in the world.

Career

Once a cadet effectively completes the NDA programme, he moves onto the academy he has selected for the training programme, before he is permitted commission. Army cadet’s moves to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Air Force cadets move to Air Force Association (AFA) at Dundigal, Hyderabad, and Naval cadets to Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, and Kerala. When they complete the programme, they are prepared to start a famous career with the Indian Armed Forces.

A small bit regarding NDA examination

The NDA candidates are selected via a written examination carried out by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC), followed by Intelligence and Personality test performed by Services Selection Board (SSB), such as general aptitude, team skills, physical abilities, etc. The UPSC performs this examination twice a year in regarding 41 centers across the county.

The Written examination includes 2 sections: Mathematics for 300 marks and General Ability for 600 marks. Each paper is for 2 to 2 .30 hours. All the queries will be objective in nature and will be available in Hindi and English.

Intelligence and Personality Test

This exam evaluates the personality, intelligence and mental aptitude of the applicant. The test contains group conversations, team work, psychological testing, and followed by a medical test.

NDA Written test

As mentioned, the written test makes up 2 papers Mathematics and General Ability.

Getting ready for Paper 1: Mathematics

This test covers topics similar to Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Algebra, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Analytical Geometry, Statistics & Probability.

General Ability is further divided into:

Part A: English

Part B: General Knowledge (GK)

With this test, focus on growing your personality.
